University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking a Transfer Coordinator to streamline patient transfers and ensure safe, timely movement across facilities. You will coordinate with sending and receiving teams while applying clinical judgment to assess patient needs and document transfer details for continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Three years of RN experience in critical care or emergency department.
• Current Texas RN license.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS and PALS trainings required within 6 months of start.
• CCRN or CEN preferred.

Summary

Responsible for coordinating patient transfers, ensuring effective communication between healthcare providers, and maintaining high standards of patient care in a fast-paced call center environment. Facilitates the prompt transfer of patients between facilities and internal transfers, utilizing clinical expertise to assess patient needs and determine appropriate transfer options, ensuring continuity of care. Acts as a central communication source for all components of the patient transfer process, including direct admissions and critical care support. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of pertinent patient information, transfer details and communication with healthcare providers. Advocates for the patients through consideration of patient condition, service requirements and urgency.

Work Experience

Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care and/or emergency department is required.

License/Registration/Certification

• Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
• Current BLS training is required.
• Completion of the ACLS and PALS trainings required within 6 months of being in the position.
• Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) is preferred.

Education and Training

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
