Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a detail-oriented professional to oversee the Patient Placement Center operations. You will coordinate transfers, admissions, and bed assignments across clinics and hospitals to ensure timely, appropriate placement and high-quality patient care.

The role requires strong communication, data accuracy, and comfort with multiple electronic systems such as EPIC, PACs, Passport/OneSource. Rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays support a 24/7 health system.

Qualifications

• Six months of related experience, or equivalency.
• Medical Terminology course completed within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and manages transfer and admission processes from clinics and hospitals to ensure patients are placed in the most appropriate service, unit, and level of care.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility using Passport/OneSource system.
• Collects essential patient information from referring physicians and facilities to support proper triage and placement.
• Directs patient transfers with hospital leadership to ensure timely and clinically appropriate moves.
• Collaborates with referring facilities to identify constraints related to bed capacity.
• Manages Telemedicine calls and encounters via the Patient Placement Center tele-hub line.
• Ensures accurate application of patient class and accommodation codes for billing purposes.
