Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Patient Placement Coordinator to analyze admissions, bed availability, and transfers, ensuring efficient patient flow and EMTALA compliance. You will enter admission data in EPIC, coordinate with the Transfer Center, and provide high-level service to internal and external customers while safeguarding patient confidentiality.

This role requires flexibility for a 24/7 schedule. Must have an Associate’s degree and two years of related experience; prior hospital bed management

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent and two years related experience.
• Two years of work experience directly related to patient placement.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and assigns beds for admissions from multiple sources.
• Coordinates with COA/Transfer Center on bed placement needs.
• Performs data entry of patient accounts in EPIC with accuracy.
• Enters admission status orders into the ED EPID Track Board.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and handles service recovery as needed.
• Monitors census and bed status; supports interfacility transfers.
• Works in a high-stress environment with a 24/7 schedule.
