Trinity Health Oakland Campus is seeking a Patient Support Technician to join the Orthopedics Unit on the day shift. The role supports nursing staff by performing direct patient care and coordinating unit activities.

Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will handle bedside care, vital signs, basic procedures, ADLs, and documentation, with opportunities for growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months direct patient care experience in past 5 years.
• Completed Medical/Surgical rotation in nursing program.
• Completion of a Patient Care Technician program with externship.

Responsabilités

• Provide bedside care and procedures under RN supervision (venipuncture, EKG, glucose monitoring, respiratory care).
• Assist with activities of daily living and nutritional support for patients.
• Document intake, vital signs and report life-threatening conditions.

Position Purpose

The Patient Support Technician functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under supervision of the Registered Nurseutilizingprinciples of Relationship-Based Care, performs direct patient care to a specific group of patients and coordinates activities which relate to the flow of unit processes.

Shifts Available

7:00 am – 7:00 pm

Status available

Full-time

Every Other Weekend and 3 Holidays per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Experience

• 6 months direct patient care experience within past5 years.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing educational program.
• Completion of a "Patient Care Technician" program that requires successful completion of an externship in an acute care facility.

What you will do

• Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Including but not limitedto:venipuncture, 12 lead EKG, basic blood glucose collection and monitoring, respiratory care (i.e. Cough and deep breathing, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, oxygen setup, hand held nebulizer), dressing changes, collection of vital signs, recognition of life-threatening conditions with initial responses and reporting, emptying and measuring drainage equipment.
• Performs activities of daily living (ADL)appropriate to the patient's condition under the direction of and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs basic nutritional support to patients such as bed set up, assistancewith feeding, and collection and documentation of intake and calorie count asappropriate.
• Performs other various duties as assigned and needed. These duties may vary depending upon the unit, patient type and need, number and complexity of treatment provided.Additionalduties may also include nonclinical duties consistent with meeting the needs of the patient and care team.
