Job summary

Trinity Health MI, located at the Trinity Health Oakland Campus, is seeking a Patient Support Technician to join the Pre Post Op team. The role supports RN-driven patient care, performing bedside procedures and daily living activities, with shifts covering day and night hours.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and preferred experience in direct patient care or a PCT program. This is a part-time, on-site position with opportunities for growth within the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 6 months of direct patient care within past 5 years.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing program.
• Completion of a Patient Care Technician program with externship in an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under RN supervision (venipuncture, 12-lead EKG, glucose collection, monitoring).
• Performs activities of daily living as appropriate under RN supervision.
• Assists with nutritional support and meal setup; documents intake and calories as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support patient and care team.

Position Purpose

The Patient Support Technician functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under supervision of the Registered Nurseutilizingprinciples of Relationship-Based Care, performs direct patient care to a specific group of patients and coordinates activities which relate to the flow of unit processes.

Shifts Available

7:00 am – 7:00 pm, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Status available

Part-time

Every Other Weekend and 3 Holidays per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Experience

• 6 months direct patient care experience withinpast5 years.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing educational program.
• Completion of a "Patient Care Technician" program that requires successful completion of an externship in an acute care facility.

What you will do

• Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Including but not limitedto:venipuncture, 12 lead EKG, basic blood glucose collection and monitoring, respiratory care (i.e. Cough and deep breathing, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, oxygen setup, hand held nebulizer), dressing changes, collection of vital signs, recognition of life-threatening conditions with initial responses and reporting, emptying and measuring drainage equipment.
• Performs activities of daily living (ADL)appropriate tothe patient's condition under the direction of and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs basic nutritional support to patients such as bed set up,assistancewith feeding, and collection and documentation of intake and calorie count asappropriate.
• Performs other various duties as assigned and needed. These duties may vary depending upon the unit, patient type and need, number and complexity of treatment provided.Additionalduties may also include nonclinical duties consistent with meeting the needs of the patient and care team.
