Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, KS seeks a Patient Safety Attendant to monitor high-risk patients and support the nursing team with safety-focused care. This role emphasizes compassionate, family-like care and keen attention to risk reduction.

You will stay with patients, assist with routine activities, and help ensure a safe environment during transports and procedures as part of a dedicated healthcare team.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Basic Life Saving Support certification required within 30 days of hire
• De-Escalation Training required within first 90 days of hire
• Must be comfortable with staying with patient(s).
• Must have great attention to detail to maintain line of sight with patients.
• Experience from positions like transporters, patient sitters in nursing home settings, other hands-on care could work well.

Responsibilities

• Maintain direct line of sight with patient at all times, including when family/visitors are in the room.
• Accompany patients to transport, testing, and procedures away from the patient’s room.
• Establish a safe environment using fall prevention, infection control, and self-harm prevention knowledge.
• Perform room assessments regularly and after visits.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. In collaboration with the nursing team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The Sitter may also assist with basic activities of daily living. Our Patient Safety Attendants are passionate about ensuring an exceptional patient experience and committed to caring like family.

What You Will Do In This Role:

• You will maintain a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
• You will accompany patients and ensure safety during transportation, testing and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
• You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures and self-harm prevention.
• You will perform room assessment regularly and after any visitations.
