Job summary

Indian Health Council (IHC) in Valley Center, CA seeks a Part-time Patient Service Representative (temporary) to manage front desk operations, greet patients, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and assist with patient flow. The role requires HIPAA compliance, strong communication, and at least two years in a clinical office setting.

The position reports to the Business Operations Manager and includes comprehensive benefits, with location onsite and a variable schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of post-secondary training/certification program preferred.
• Two years of related clinical office experience.
• Two years of experience working with insurances; verifying, sequencing & interpreting benefits.
• Two years of experience working with practice management and electronic health record system; preferably EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with emphasis on service excellence; address questions/concerns.
• Explain eligibility criteria to patients and the public regarding clinical service access.
• Understand and accurately interpret patient eligibility statuses, PRC, Direct, Non-Native.
• Serve as back-up to the Registration Office, reviews forms for completeness and accuracy.
• Answer, screen, address, and/or transfer inbound phone calls; utilize round-robin phone queue system.
• Schedule patient clinical appointments following established scheduling protocols.
• Collect, review, and verify patient insurance/3rd party coverage; enter in EPIC system.
