University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative to support UPMC Vision Institute-Shadyside located at 532 S. Aiken Avenue Suite 520 Pittsburgh, PA 15232. This role will work Monday through Friday daylight hours (rotating shifts between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., no evenings or weekends). Travel to satellite locations (Shadyside, Forbes, Mercy, St. Margaret’s, Monroeville, Wexford, Bethel Park, Natrona Heights) is required as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Help patients navigate healthcare, provide follow-up for unresolved questions
  • Assist with administrative duties like scanning and faxing
  • Guide patient check-in via self-arrival technology or at the desk
  • Schedule appointments and ancillary services
  • Engage in service recovery and take appropriate actions
  • Educate patients about financial responsibilities and connect to advocacy resources
  • Obtain signatures for consent following HIPAA regulations
  • Verify insurance benefits
  • Promote and assist with MyUPMC portal registration
  • Collect payments at the point of service
  • Greet patients warmly
  • Register patients in biometric programs and update information
  • Triages phone calls and schedules follow-ups
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with computer applications, office equipment, and typing preferred
  • Two years of related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and health records systems preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
  • Act 34 clearance required
