Job summary

Articularis Healthcare Group in Summerville, SC is seeking a full-time Patient Services Representative to manage front desk duties, greet patients, and support clinic operations. The role may rotate to other AHG sites as needed, requiring strong customer service and data-entry skills.

The ideal candidate has a related degree or equivalent experience, Medicare/insurance knowledge, and comfort with Microsoft Office; prior medical office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree with 2 years or combination of education and work experience in customer service.
  • Medical/clinical setting experience preferred.
  • Experience with a multi-line phone system.
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite and similar programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical software systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Check in patients and collect/update financial, personal, and medical information.
  • Enter information accurately into the patient charts.
  • Provide superior customer service by phone and in person.
  • Check out patients, schedule follow-ups, and provide documents.
  • Collect copays and past-due balances.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules; reschedule as needed.
  • File, scan, and organize materials; data entry into medical system.
  • Schedule appointments per guidelines and coordinate with staff.
  • Explain insurance benefits to patients and maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with managers, doctors, and staff; triage and transfer calls.
  • Travel between offices; perform Medical Assistant duties as needed.

Articularis Healthcare Group (AHG) is currently seeking a full-time Patient Services Representative for our Summerville, SC location. This position is expected to rotate through our Mount Pleasant and West Ashley locations as needed.

The Patient Service Representative will be responsible for handling all front desk duties for the practice. The Patient Service Representative must ensure that patients are the number one priority, whether over the phone or in person. They will greet every patient and guardian with a smile and accommodate their needs in a comfortable and pleasant manner to provide the best experience. This position could be expected to float and help out around the clinic, and satellite clinics, as needed.

As a Patient Services Representative, typical duties look like:
  • Responsible for checking in patients upon arrival at the office, as well as obtains and updatesnecessary financial, personal, and or medical information.
  • Ensures all information is entered accurately into the patients' chart.
  • Ensures that patients receive a superior level of customer service by answering the telephonepromptly, communicating in a courteous and friendly manner and addressing patients' needs andquestions.
  • Responsible for checking out patients upon completion of the appointment, schedules the follow- upappointment(s) as needed and provides patients with any necessary documents, including treatmentplans, receipts, work excuse notes, or appointment reminder cards.
  • Responsible for collecting copays and past due balances.
  • Monitors the schedules regularly, adjusts the schedule as necessary and reschedules patients asneeded.
  • Responsible for sorting, filing, and scanning materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems andability to key data into medical computer system accurately.
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments based on the company's scheduling guidelines.
  • Understands insurance benefits to effectively communicate to the patient.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance and ensures any release of patientinformation is done in accordance with the company guidelines.
  • Understands how to work effectively within the office, partnering with Managers, Doctor(s), and otherstaff to maintain consistency and integrity within the company.
  • Appropriately triage and transfer phone calls to other areas and/or providers
  • Travels between multiple offices as needed.
  • Performs Medical Assistant responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
This job might be for you if you have:
  • Associates degree with 2 years or any combination of educationand work experience in a customer service-related role.
  • Previous experience working in a medical/clinical setting.
  • Previous multi-line phone system.
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within Microsoft Office Suite, or similarprograms.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of medical software systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
