- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
- Research test/client information and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or directories of services.
- Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test orders from requisitions.
- Enter billing information and collect payments as required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
- Process specimens by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as needed.
- Use iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate billing data.
- Provide CIR and PPE Resolution reports to the Director as scheduled.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory management, stocking supplies, and answering phones when needed.
- Follow departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, ensuring staff compliance.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials, including patient signatures post-venipuncture, to ensure proper labeling.
- Assist with compiling and submitting monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain phlebotomy logs, including maintenance and temperature logs, promptly and regularly.
- Complete ongoing training and stay updated with phlebotomy techniques.
- Travel to off-site or off-normal shift meetings as required.
- Participate in special projects and team activities.
- Keep up-to-date with company communications.
Job Requirements
- Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric care.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
- Adherence to MAKO policies, including dress code, safety, and core principles.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Strong customer focus; effective communication with peers, supervisors, and patients; adaptability; and knowledge of business operations.
Physical Requirements
- Lift objects weighing 1-15 pounds frequently; 16-25 pounds occasionally; 26-40 pounds rarely; above 41 pounds only with assistance.
- Sit or stand for long periods; perform repetitive tasks; travel as needed.
- Use phone and PC extensively; demonstrate fine dexterity, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training preferred (medical assistant or paramedic).
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, WA.
Work Experience
- Preferred: 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
- Experience in customer service and data entry preferred.
