Description

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
  • Research test/client information and confirm all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by test orders.
  • Work with iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate billing data.
  • Provide necessary CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to Director as required.
  • Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
  • Comply with departmental policies and ensure all staff follow instructions.
  • Verify patient demographic information post-venipuncture to ensure correct labeling.
  • Assist with the compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs timely based on frequency.
  • Complete training courses and keep up-to-date with phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay updated on company communications.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Commitment to all MAKO policies and procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
  • Superior customer focus and ability to communicate effectively.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift light to moderately heavy objects (1-40 pounds) with assistance for heavier items.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods; requires eye and hand coordination.
  • Perform repetitive tasks frequently throughout the day.
  • Position requires travel and extensive use of phone and PC.
  • Fine dexterity with hands and ability to push/pull and reach/twist.

Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Work Experience
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
