Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Nursing Station Clerk 1 to greet visitors, answer calls, perform data entry, and maintain patient charts on inpatient or outpatient units. The role is connected to the NY HELPS program and requires meeting minimum qualifications and potential provisional appointments.

Qualified candidates must have one year of relevant clerical or patient care experience and may participate in provisional or 55 b/c pathways.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time clerical (in a health care setting), secretarial (in a health care setting), or patient care experience.
• Provisional candidates must take the examination when next offered and be reachable on the eligible list.
• This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of eligibility.
• Section 70.1 Transfer requires one year of permanent competitive service in a transferable title.
• Posting remains for up to 90 days with early review dates for full consideration.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and direct them to appropriate locations.
• Answer telephones and perform data entry tasks.
• Maintain patient charts and logs; fill out tickets and requisitions.
• Mail patient letters and deliver supplies and records to assigned unit.
• Process physician orders after review by a Registered Nurse.
