Job summary

MAKO Medical is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect specimens across our patient-care sites in West Virginia. You will perform venipuncture, label specimens, enter data, and assist with billing and quality processes. The role requires adherence to procedures and safe handling of samples.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, phlebotomy training and certification if applicable; flexible availability including weekends and travel to territory meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills (pediatric and geriatric).
• Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Strong customer focus and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures (drug screens, blood samples, pathology/cytology samples).
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab systems.
• Data entry for patient registration and test orders; enter billing information as required.
• Enter billing information and collect payments when required; safeguard assets and card data.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as ordered.
• Work iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate billing data.
• Provide CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to Director as required.
• Handle clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking, and answering phones.
• Follow department policies, safety manuals and quality assurance procedures.
• Verify patient demographics and labels post-venipuncture for accuracy.
• Assist with compiling and submitting monthly statistics and data.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs (maintenance, temperature, etc.).
• Complete training courses and stay current with phlebotomy techniques.
• Travel to Territory Manager meetings if off-site or off shift.
• Participate in special projects and teams.
• Stay up-to-date with company communications.
