Job summary

Neighborhood Healthcare is a community health organization delivering care across medical, dental, and behavioral health services. The Patient Services Medical Assistant (PSMA) role supports front- and back-office tasks, directs calls, and assists patients with scheduling, ensuring accuracy and compassionate customer service.

Scheduled hours are Tue–Fri 8:30 AM–5:30 PM (lunch 12–1 PM) and Sat 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (lunch 12–1 PM).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
• One year customer service experience is required; healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience working with electronic medical records and multi-phone lines preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses incoming phone calls to determine the correct course of action based on customer's information and needs.
• Corresponds with patients, salespeople, and visitors in a courteous and competent manner via in-person, telephone, and/or mail.
• Conducts appointment reminder calls and prepares required documents for visits.
• Generates daily lists of scheduled appointments for the clinic and coordinates with care teams.
• Schedules appointments and enters data into electronic scheduler; verifies arrival times.
• Prepares patient charts and supports providers and care teams across departments.
