Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Service Coordinator to manage authorization requests via fax, phone, email and the provider portal. You will build authorization shells in JIVA and route them for nurse review while coordinating activities for practices including insurance verification and pre-certification.

Education requires a High School Diploma and prior healthcare experience. Hours are Mon-Fri 8:00am–5:00pm with flexibility for every-other-weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Previous healthcare experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle intake of authorization requests via fax, phone, email and provider portal.
• Build authorization shells in JIVA and route authorizations for nurse review.
• Coordinate activities for specific practices, including insurance verification and pre-certification.
• Answer provider calls and assist with questions about the authorization process.
• Outreach to providers to obtain clinical information for medical necessity review.
• Assist in scheduling peer-to-peer calls as requested.
