Job Summary

Responsibilities*
  • Welcome and check patients in for the Graduate Orthodontics and Faculty Practice clinics.
  • Manage phone calls by triaging calls, retrieving messages, calling patients to address concerns and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations (HIPAA).
  • Determine existence of previous registration if applicable and verify and update insurance information for existing patients of record.
  • Accurately verify patient information, including demographic details, medical history, and insurance coverage.
  • Scan patient paperwork, insurance cards, ID into EPIC.
  • Secure patients signature on FAs if applicable
  • Manage daily work queues.
  • Check patients out
  • Collect payments, co-pays and past due balances at patient check in/out using the established department/school guidelines.
  • Reconcile daily cash and credit card patients
  • Enter Codes into the eHR system for patient financial liability
  • Maintain and review schedule daily to ensure patient balances are collected at the start of the appointment
  • Display excellent customer service and attitude towards patients, students/residents, faculty and staff.
Required Qualifications*
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required with some college preferred.
  • Considerable clerical experience is necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with an extremely busy and hectic clinic environment.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Dropbox.
  • Knowledge of dental insurance plans.
  • Welcoming personality.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy clinical environment.
  • Excellent attendance record.
Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Knowledge of EPIC.
  • Familiarity with the Dental School.
