Summary of Job Duties: The Patient Services Associate (PSA) is a specifically trained member of the unit-based care team who provides both clerical and patient care support to the Patient Management Team. The PSA works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or other licensed/certified health care disciplines on the unit and performs tasks that do not require a licensed practitioner, professional judgment, or intervention. Duties include assisting with processing of bulk storage, peripheral sticks, daily pod audits, blood culture processing, glucometer checks, acting as a preceptor for new PCTs, and assisting the charge nurse with other duties. The PSA participates in the Unit Based Counsel and serves as a role model/leader to PCTs.
