Major Responsibilities
- Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record utilized by all members of the healthcare team. Prevents creation of duplicate records to ensure treatment safety and billing accuracy. Ensures compliance with organizational and accrediting body mandates to use identifiers for patient safety.
- Checks in and registers patients; verifies demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and out-of-pocket responsibilities. Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Understands insurance plans and discusses financial obligations with patients. Refers patients to Financial Advocates when necessary.
- Ensures compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others by enforcing rules and obtaining signatures as required.
- Schedules appointments, provides test preparation info, and manages visit closure including follow-up scheduling and patient education on portals/apps.
- Provides excellent customer service, greets patients, responds to inquiries, and maintains professional relations. Assists with transportation, directions, interpreter services, and document scanning.
- Monitors electronic health record work queues and assists with orientation and training of staff as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- None required for licensure or experience

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- May require travel and exposure to weather conditions
- Operates necessary equipment, stands and sits for extended periods, lifts weights, and uses fine motor skills
