Job Overview

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a crucial role in creating and managing electronic health records, ensuring patient safety through accurate identification, and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities include patient check-in, data verification, scheduling, and supporting patients with various needs, all while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Creates initial electronic health records, preventing duplicates and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
  2. Registers patients, verifies demographic and insurance information, and collects payments.
  3. Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA and other regulations.
  4. Understands insurance plans, discusses financial responsibilities, and refers patients to financial advocates as needed.
  5. Ensures compliance with regulations like HIPAA, EMTALA, and others, obtaining signatures as required.
  6. Schedules appointments, provides patient instructions, and supports patient portal use.
  7. Provides a welcoming environment, handles inquiries, and maintains positive public relations.
  8. Assists with document scanning, managing electronic queues, and supports department leadership with training.

Physical & Working Conditions
