Job summary

Solis Mammography in Washington, DC is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join as needed. The role is PRN with 15–20 hours weekly, evenings and some weekend shifts, at our DC location.

You will register patients, collect payments, handle insurance verification, and support front office operations. Applicants should have a high school diploma and healthcare registration or customer service experience; knowledge of RIS and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Two years of healthcare registration or customer service experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cash handling.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and RIS software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner.
• Register patients including demographic and insurance data in the RIS system.
• Explain forms and assist with completion, on paper or tablet.
• Process paperwork and maintain confidentiality of medical records.
• Collect patient payments and verify insurance as needed.
• Prepare paperwork for future appointments and payors.
• Ensure orders are present for diagnostics and follow up on requests.
• Schedule and reschedule patients and reconcile daily payments.
• Participate in front office training and policy updates.

Work Hours: PRN As Needed, 15-20 hours, weekdays 5:00pm-9:45pm, weekends 7:30am-4:00pm

Pay Range: $19.00-$23.00 commensurate with experience

Here Is What You Will Need

• High School diploma;
• Two years of healthcare registration or customer service experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of cash handling;

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but sometimes complex written or oral instructions;
• Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations: Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time;
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite: knowledge of RIS software preferred

A Day in the Life of a Patient Service Representative:

• Provide services and support for the following areas:
• Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
• Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner;
• Completely and accurately register patients including: input of demographic and insurance information into our RIS (Radiology Information System) and verifying accuracy of existing information;
• Explain forms to patients and assist with form completion, via paper or tablet, as necessary;
• Process necessary paperwork by scanning documents that need to be linked to the patient’s medical record and maintaining confidentiality;
• Responsible for collecting patient payments which can include explaining benefits given from
• insurance verification when necessary;
• Prepare paperwork for future appointments incorporating additional paperwork needed for
• specific exams or payors as necessary;
• Ensure all diagnostic tests have required orders, request as needed and follow-up on outstanding
• requests;
• Schedule and reschedule patients as necessary;
• Generate daily invoice journal at the end of each day and reconcile payments using Daily Reconciliation Report;
• Participate in front office training to stay abreast of front office policy and procedures
