About Position

ThePatient Service Representative is responsible to successfully check in medical, dental, and behavioral health patients when they arrive and assure completion of their registration process.

• Work Location: 1214 Vaughn Rd, Burlington, NC 27217 (Burlington Community Health Center)
• Work Hours: ***this position requires once a month Saturday work hours from 8:00am to 1:00pm***
  • Monday through Friday, (3) 8:00am-5:00pm shifts, (1) 8:00am-8:00pm shift, and (1) 8:00am to 1:00pm shift on Fridays when working late night. Alternating 8:00am - 1:00pm on Saturdays every 5-6 weeks at the Charles Drew Community Health Center.

Duties/ Responsibilities

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) will schedule patient appointments for our medical and/or dental sites, and complete required documentation prior to patients leaving our healthcare centers. The PSR will coordinate with Center Managers to correct denied claims to minimize our error rate, and ensure patient data is accurate and complete. This position must comply with local, state, federal, industry, and regulatory standards. The PSR must demonstrate an understanding of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and release of medical information, and possess the ability to work independently to process complex patient claims and authorization issues. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the incumbent must be an effective communicator.

• Experience with Microsoft Outlook
• Able to work with minimal supervision, problem solve in a high stress environment, and interact positively with all internal and external customers

• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.1 to 2 years of experience providing customer service in a healthcare organization, preferred. Experience with patient access (scheduling, registration, insurance verification), preferred;

Immunizations

Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.

Pay Range

$17.66/Hourly - $23.74/Hourly (commensurate with years of experience)
