Job summary

Center for Family Health seeks an organized receptionist to greet patients warmly and maintain confidentiality. You will enter demographic and insurance information, collect co-pays, balance cash drawer, schedule appointments, and support clinical staff with referrals and follow-up tasks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in front-desk or medical office is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a warm, professional manner.
  • Enter and verify demographic information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Enter, scan, and verify insurance information into the EMR system.
  • Distribute forms to patients with explanations and assistance; collect forms.
  • Collect co-pays and past due balances; balance cash drawer.
  • Maintain cash box and track money during each shift.
  • Schedule patient appointments and follow scheduling guidelines.
  • Check in-basket daily and complete pending tasks.
  • Assist with waitlists and general administrative duties.
  • Coordinate dental referrals as needed.
  • Ensure payments for denture and partial services are received.
  • Follow proper process for STAT tests ordered by providers.
  • Support patient care with follow-up and communications.
  • Complete department-specific projects and reports.
  • Adhere to regulations, policies, and work practices.

Job description

  • Greets patients in a warm, welcoming, and professional manner. Always utilizes excellent customer service skills.
  • Enters and verifies all demographic information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Enters, scans, and verifies (via electronic verification system) all insurance information into electronic medical records.
  • Distributes forms to patients with necessary explanation and assistance. Collects forms from patients ensuring proper completion.
  • Collects co-payments and past due balances. Ensures all money is accounted for by completing the end of day process to balance both the electronic and physical cash drawer.
  • Maintains cash box during each shift to ensure all cash-box money is accounted for.
  • Schedules patient appointments by consistently and accurately utilizing department scheduling guidelines.
  • Checks in-basket daily and completes pending tasks.
  • Assists with waitlist.
  • Assists with administrative duties (faxing, copying, mail, reports, etc.)
  • Assists in coordinating Dental referrals.
  • Ensures payments are received for denture and partial services.
  • Follows proper process for STAT tests ordered by provider.
  • Other activities that assist with coordination of patient care (verbally review patient instructions, orders, labs, referrals) as well as necessary follow-up to complete these requests.
  • Completes department-specific projects, such as patient tracking and follow-up.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
