Job summary

University Otolaryngologists is seeking a dedicated Centralized Scheduling Representative to be the first point of contact for patients. You will greet callers, schedule appointments, register patients, and route requests to the appropriate physicians.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of customer service experience; medical office preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Knowledge of GE Athena Practice management software beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software beneficial but not required.
• Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
• Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
• Able to work well with patients and colleagues.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients over the phone in a professional and friendly manner.
• Register new patients and update established patient demographics.
• Schedule patient appointments for consultations, medical procedures and follow-up visits.
• Accurately enter all insurance information.
• Process incoming consultation requests and return statuses to the requesting physician office.
• Indexing of consultation requests and external office records.
• Initiate the process of obtaining an HMO authorizations.
• Handle patient concerns and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
• Follow all policies and protocols of the Central Scheduling Manager.
