Overview

Summary

While performing duties related to St. Clair Hospital or St. Clair Medical Group, this position supports the Patient Safety and Risk Management Director in the implementation of the organization’s Patient Safety and Risk Management Plans to protect the Hospital assets from loss. Primarily, this position identifies patient safety issues and potential liability exposures supporting the reduction of medical errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. Upon the identification of area of potential risk, this role responds appropriately, providing support to prevent, manage, and mitigate loss to the organization. This position is integral in supporting the staff with patient safety and risk reporting education and guidance. Additionally, this role helps support the administration of the professional and general liability claims; performance improvement efforts of the patient experience, representation, and regulatory readiness programs; and any other identified patient safety or risk management priorities named by the Patient Safety and Quality Committee.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Associate’s degree and 2 years relevant health care experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, decision-making skills.

  • Analytical ability to problem solve.

  • Experience in process improvement.

  • Excellent computer skills, to include ability with Microsoft Office 365 applications.

  • Experience with data analytics, including report and graphic generation

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently.

  • Able to facilitate the identification of risks throughout the organization


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field.

  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting

  • Risk/claims experience utilizing RL6 software.

  • Patient Safety reporting experience

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) designation.

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification

  • Understanding of CMS Conditions of Participation, PA Department of Health Regulations and Joint Commission accreditation requirements.
