Job summary

UNC Health seeks a Patient Safety Program Manager to advance a high-reliability safety culture across sites within the Unified Quality team. You will analyze safety risks, promote learning from events, and lead improvement projects with clinical, operational, risk, and accreditation partners.

You will serve as a trusted safety resource, coordinate/root-cause analyses, and drive actions while balancing system standardization with local context.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, healthcare administration, epidemiology, human factors, psychology, engineering, quality/patient safety).
• Certification in CPPS preferred; CPPS must be achieved within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Implements UNC Health patient safety strategy, standards, tools, and governance processes at assigned sites. Manages projects from planning through implementation and evaluation, supporting reliable system practice while accounting for local operational needs.
• Serves as a primary patient safety resource and liaison for assigned sites, building relationships with site leaders and frontline teams; escalates urgent risks through system channels.
