Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina is seeking a Patient Safety Program Manager to advance a high-reliability safety approach across the enterprise. You will partner with clinical, operational, quality, risk, and accreditation leaders to identify risks, promote learning, and strengthen a culture of safety.

You will support multiple sites, drive root-cause analyses and proactive risk assessments, and lead or facilitate interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement corrective actions, while traveling

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of clinical or healthcare experience with patient safety, quality improvement, risk management, or related field.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and managing projects or data.
• CPPS certification within two years of hire is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implements UNC Health patient safety strategy and governance at assigned sites and manages projects from planning through evaluation.
• Serves as primary patient safety resource, liaises with site leaders, and escalates risks through system channels.
• Leads or supports root cause analyses, proactive risk assessments, and learning from events.
• Facilitates teams to identify contributing factors and develop corrective actions with strong ownership.
• Tracks corrective actions for timeliness, effectiveness, and sustained performance.
• Analyzes safety data, identifies trends, and shares insights while maintaining confidentiality.
• Advances culture of safety through education, coaching, and Just Culture initiatives.
• Participates in system and site safety committees and governance forums.
