Job summary

SEARHC in Sitka, Alaska seeks a Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) to provide constant observation and support for assigned patients. You will stay engaged with patients, assist care staff, and help maintain a safe environment in a hospital setting.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, BLS and HSS training within stated timelines, and on-the-job training. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and de-escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS within 30 days of hire.
• HSS training within 30 days of hire.
• Clinical Competency due within 3 months of hire.
• On-the-job training provided; no prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct observation while remaining at a safe distance to monitor patient safety.
• Adapt environment for patient comfort (light, noise, temperature).
• Calm patients and offer diversional activities (reading, games, walks as allowed).
• Maintain a safe, obstacle-free room and assist with basic mobility as needed.
• Assist CNA and care staff with basic tasks and keep areas orderly.
• Perform additional duties as needed and may assist with transfers or clerical tasks.
