Job summary

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL seeks a Patient Safety Attendant to support daily activities and maintain patient safety under direct supervision on the unit.

You will monitor patient condition, assist with mobility, and ensure safety during transport and testing while following infection control and fall-prevention protocols.

Qualifications

• One year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Current BLS required on all clinical units.
• Critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of start.

• Accompany patients to tests and procedures away from bed.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• You will assist with basic activities of daily living.
• You will maintain a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and visitors are in the room.
• You will accompany patients and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
• You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention. You will perform room assessment regularly and after any visitations.
• You will monitor your patients’ physical and emotional condition. You will also report any changes in status promptly while remaining direct line of sight with the patient
• You will intervene as needed to prevent patient your patients’ from harming self or others seeking immediate assistance for escalating incidents.

Qualifications:

• One year experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
• Current AHA (American Heart Association) BLS (Basic Life Support) required on all clinical nursing units
• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
