Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) provides continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients, ensuring a safe environment and assisting with basic activities of daily living in collaboration with the care team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining visual contact with the patient at all times, including during visits from family or visitors.
  • Ensuring patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures outside the patient's room.
  • Creating a safe environment by following fall prevention, infection control, and self-harm protocols, including regular room assessments.
  • Documenting patient status and activities accurately during shifts.
  • Assisting nursing staff with tasks such as transporting patients, delivering supplies, and answering calls.
  • Participating actively as part of the healthcare team and promoting teamwork to patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Engaging in performance improvement activities and process enhancements.
  • Restocking patient room supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 7 days of employment.
