Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high quality , patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. In collaboration with the nursing team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The Sitter may also assist with ba sic activities of daily living. O ur Patient Safety Attendants are passionate about ensuring an exceptional patient experience and committed to caring like family.

What Y ou W ill D o I n T his R ole:

  • You will maintain a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
  • You will accompany patients and ensure safety during transportation, testing and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
  • You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures and self-harm prevention.
  • You will perform room assessment regularly and after any visitations .

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Basic Life Saving Support certification required within 30 days of hire
  • De-Escalation Training required within first 90 days of hire

This includes women's services offering obstetrics and fertility, an emergency room, and a trauma center. We offer a Stroke Center, a walk-in clinic, and orthopedics across three Kansas City locations. Research Psychiatric Center is a 95+ bed facility. We offer acute inpatient, day treatment, and community-based outpatient behavioral healthcare.
