Job summary

HCA Florida Englewood Hospital is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to provide continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. You will work with the care team to maintain a safe environment and prevent falls or self-harm, while remaining at the patient’s side during activities, tests, and transport.

The role requires basic clinical skills, attention to patient safety, and the ability to follow instructions with strong communication.

Qualifications

  • One year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current AHA BLS required on all clinical nursing units.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic activities of daily living.
  • Maintain direct line of sight with patient at all times, including when family/visitors are in room.
  • Accompany patients and ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures away from patient’s environment.
  • Establish safe environment using fall prevention, infection control, and self-harm prevention protocols.
  • Monitor patients’ physical and emotional condition and report changes promptly.
  • Intervene to prevent harm and seek immediate assistance for escalating incidents.

Job Summary and Qualifications

We are currently seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to join our team. As our Safety Attendant you will participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. While in collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls of accidental or intentional self-harm.

Your tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • You willassist with basic activities of daily living.
  • You will maintain a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and visitors are in the room.
  • You will accompany patients and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
  • You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention. You will perform room assessment regularly and after any visitations.
  • You will monitor your patients’ physical and emotional condition. You will also report any changes in status promptly while remaining direct line of sight with the patient
  • You will intervene as needed to prevent patient your patients’ from harming self or others seeking immediate assistance for escalating incidents.
