Job summary

HCA HealthONE Rose is seeking a Virtual Patient Safety Attendant to monitor high-risk patients from a remote station, ensuring safety and communicating concerns in real time to the care team. The role emphasizes continuous observation, falls prevention, and patient-centered care.

From the remote environment, you will document patient status and support transportation, testing, and procedures while maintaining patient privacy and dignity. Nights shift offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• De-escalation training is required within 90 days of the hire date.
• One or more years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients.
• Collaborate with the patient care team and ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and self-harm.
• Accompany the patient and ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures away from the patient’s usual environment.
• Establish a safe patient environment by applying fall prevention, infection control, and self-harm prevention knowledge.
• Monitor and report the patient’s physical and emotional condition and document status and activity during the shift.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Virtual Patient Safety Attendant, you will play a vital role in protecting patients at risk for falls, injury, or self-harm. From your remote station, you will closely monitor their physical and emotional well-being and communicate concerns in real time – empowering the care team to respond quickly and helping care for and improve lives one moment at a time.

Your responsibilities will include:

As a Patient Safety Attendant (PSA), you will participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. You will collaborate with the patient care team and ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. You may also assist with basic activities of daily living.

You will always maintain a direct line of sight with patients, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.

You will accompany the patient and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.

You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention.

You will monitor and report the patients physical and emotional condition.

You will intervene as needed to prevent the patient from harming themselves or others and seek immediate assistance for escalating incidents.

You will create clear, accurate documentation on patient status and activity during the shift.

You will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.

• Watching patients with continuous focus to ensure their safety and well-being
• Identifying risks such as falls or self-harm and promptly alerting the care team to intervene quickly and protect patients
• Documenting patient activity and changes with accuracy and clarity throughout your shift
• Honoring patient privacy by safeguarding confidential information at all times
• Collaborating closely with the healthcare team to foster a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork

What qualifications you will need:
