Job summary

HCA HealthONE Rose is seeking a Remote Patient Safety Attendant for full-time night shifts. You will monitor high-risk patients from a remote station, maintaining direct sightlines and collaborating with the care team to prevent falls and self-harm.

Responsibilities include documenting patient status, assisting with daily living activities, and intervening as needed while upholding patient privacy and compassionate care. This role supports patient safety in a large Denver-area healthcare system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire.
  • One+ year healthcare experience preferred.
  • BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients from a remote station.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team to ensure a safe environment and prevent falls or self-harm.
  • Maintain direct line of sight with patients at all times.
  • Assist with basic activities of daily living as needed.
  • Document patient status and activities clearly during shifts.
  • Intervene to prevent harm and seek help for escalations when necessary.
  • Demonstrate empathy and advocate for patient- and family-centered care.

Patient Safety Attendant

As a Virtual Patient Safety Attendant, you will play a vital role in protecting patients at risk for falls, injury, or self-harm. From your remote station, you will closely monitor their physical and emotional well-being and communicate concerns in real time – empowering the care team to respond quickly and helping care for and improve lives one moment at a time.

Your responsibilities will include:

As a Patient Safety Attendant (PSA), you will participate in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. You will collaborate with the patient care team and ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. You may also assist with basic activities of daily living.

Here is some of what you can expect from being a PSA with us:

You will always maintain a direct line of sight with patients, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.

You will accompany the patient and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.

You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention.

You will monitor and report the patient's physical and emotional condition.

You will intervene as needed to prevent the patient from harming themselves or others and seek immediate assistance for escalating incidents.

You will create clear, accurate documentation on patient status and activity during the shift.

You will demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.

  • Watching patients with continuous focus to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Identifying risks such as falls or self-harm and promptly alerting the care team to intervene quickly and protect patients
  • Documenting patient activity and changes with accuracy and clarity throughout your shift
  • Honoring patient privacy by safeguarding confidential information at all times
  • Collaborating closely with the healthcare team to foster a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork
What qualifications you will need:
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent is required
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • De-escalation training is required within 90 days of the hire date.
  • One or more years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
