Job summary

Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, FL, is seeking a PART TIME Patient Registration Specialist to deliver exceptional customer service in our Registration Department. You will collect demographics and insurance information, register patients, and establish medical records in our system.

The role requires at least one year in a customer-focused field, strong communication and computer skills, and adherence to privacy and billing regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Minimum of one year experience in a customer-focused industry.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance reimbursement, payer sources, billing, cashiering and admitting.
• Familiar with computer-based billing, patient accounts, and registration management systems.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, patience, empathy and compassion.
• Strong computer and communication skills; active listening, writing, speaking, reading.
• Good collaboration and teamwork; fast, adaptive problem-solving; detail-oriented.
• Compliance with Federal, State and Local rules and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to gather demographic and insurance information to register in the system.
• Establish the patient medical record.
• Provide Advanced Beneficiary Notices, HIPAA, and benefits as directed.
• Obtain authorizations, certifications, and referrals from insurance companies.
• Identify financial responsibilities and collect payments.
• Liaison between patients, relatives, and the healthcare organization.
• Communicate questions and concerns to appropriate staff.
• Explain policies and refer to services required.
• Ensure confidentiality and privacy rights are observed.
• Support NFCH mission and adhere to hospital policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
