Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a Patient Registration Representative to provide administrative support and high-quality customer service to patients, families and staff. You will assist with registration, scheduling, check-in/out, insurance information collection and data entry in the medical records system.

You will help communicate benefits and estimated financial responsibility, while ensuring compliance with patient access policies and consent requirements in a fast-paced pediatric

Qualifications

  • 1 year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience.
  • High School diploma or GED required; equivalency may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and schedule appointments; greet patients and provide directions.
  • Assist with patient check-in/check-out and follow-up visit support.
  • Collect and document patient insurance information and payment responsibility.
  • Explain benefits and costs and communicate estimated financial responsibility to patients.
  • Enter patient demographic information and updates into the medical records system.
  • Assist with rounding to ensure patient and family comfort.

Job Overview

The Patient Registration Representative provides administrative support and high-level customer service support to patients, families, internal team members, providers and referring practices in admission, registration, insurance management functions, and check in/check out. Supports departmental and organizational goals including pre-service collections registration quality and patient family experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides patient support services which may include registration, scheduling, patient greeting and providing directions, patient check in/out and follow-up visit support.
  • Utilizes and remains up to date with department office operations and established policies and procedures.
  • Provides customer service support and assistance to patients, families, physicians and other internal/external customers.
  • Supports health insurance management functions by collecting patient insurance information, documenting the patient’s method of payment and/or collecting payment financial responsibility. May also include supporting referrals and pre-authorizations and benefits/eligibility determinations.
  • Ensures patients are informed of benefits and associated costs by creating and communicating personalized estimates of financial responsibility.
  • Provides and obtains signs for the appropriate treatment consent forms from patients/families. Maintains current understanding of patient access policies, state laws and regulations including acknowledgement documents, legal guardian verification and consent collection.
  • Obtains and documents patient demographic information.
  • Receives patient calls or inquiries to schedule appointments, complete registration functions and route calls as appropriate.
  • Performs data entry functions, including entering patient demographic information and patient updates in a medical records system.
  • Conducts patient and family rounding to ensure patient’s/family’s comfort level.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • One (1) year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience.
  • Equivalency
    • Equivalency A relevant associate or bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Schedule/Shift
  • 24hrs PT
  • 12p-1230am (Days vary) - Rotating schedule
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $20.74 to $31.11
