Job summary

CommonSpirit Health’s Community Hospital of San Bernardino is seeking a Patient Registration Representative to ensure a positive patient experience during registration, delivering excellent customer service and accurate data capture.

You will collect demographics, verify insurance, explain hospital policies, and support reimbursement by accurate entry into the ADT system across Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in hospital patient registration or revenue cycle roles.
• Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.

Responsibilities

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for all areas (Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, Rehabilitation).
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at registration.
• Properly identifies the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated.
• Reviews assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and required documentation is obtained and complete.
• Meets CMS billing requirements for MSP, Important Message from Medicare, and Observation Notice, with documentation in the system for compliance.
• Collects and enters required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information to ensure reimbursement.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Registration Representative, you will ensure a positive patient experience during registration, employing excellent customer service.

Every day you will identify patients, collect accurate demographics, verify insurance, determine/collect financial liability, and explain hospital policies and patient rights to families.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate exceptional customer service, meticulous attention to detail in data/insurance, and strong communication, crucial for patient satisfaction and reimbursement.

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at the time of registration.
• Properly identifies the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated.
• Responsible for reviewing assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and required documentation is obtained and complete.
• Meet CMS billing requirements for the completion of the MSP, issuance of the Important Message from Medicare, issuance of the Observation Notice, and other requirements, as applicable and documenting completion within the hospital's information system for regulatory compliance and audit purposes.
• Collects and enters required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information in order to ensure appropriate reimbursement.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles.,
• Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.

Preferred

• Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles. or
• Applicable education and/or training can be used to balance a lack of experience.
