Job summary

Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic is seeking a Patient Registration Team Member to join our Revenue Cycle team. You will be one of the first points of contact, handling check-in, verifying demographics and insurance, collecting payments, and ensuring smooth clinic flow.

The ideal candidate is professional, detail‑oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced healthcare setting while delivering excellent customer service. This is a non-exempt, full-time position based in Knoxville, TN.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in customer service, patient access, medical registration, front-office operations, or another detail-oriented service environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional and compassionate approach when working with patients, families, providers, and fellow Team Members.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills with the ability to learn electronic health record and practice-management systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential patient and financial information appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Complete patient check-in and registration accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify and update patient demographic, contact, insurance, and billing information.
  • Obtain and scan identification, insurance cards, referrals, authorizations, consent forms, and other required documentation.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and identify coverage or registration concerns.
  • Collect co-pays, self-pay deposits, outstanding balances, and other patient payments.
  • Answer patient questions related to registration, appointments, forms, payments, and general clinic processes.
  • Work closely with clinical and Revenue Cycle Team Members to support efficient patient flow.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and promptly address missing or incorrect information.
  • Assist with appointment changes, cancellations, rescheduling, and other patient-access needs as assigned.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, privacy, payment-handling, and KOC policies and procedures.

Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (KOC) is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Patient Registration Team Member to join our Revenue Cycle team. This position plays an important role in creating a positive patient experience from the moment a patient arrives.

As a Patient Registration Team Member, you will serve as one of the first points of contact for our patients and families. You will be responsible for completing patient check-in, verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting required documentation and payments, and helping ensure an efficient flow throughout the clinic.

The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment while providing excellent customer service.

What You'll Do

Greet and assist patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.

Complete patient check-in and registration accurately and efficiently.

Verify and update patient demographic, contact, insurance, and billing information.

Obtain and scan identification, insurance cards, referrals, authorizations, consent forms, and other required documentation.

What We're Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience in customer service, patient access, medical registration, front-office operations, or another detail-oriented service environment preferred.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Professional and compassionate approach when working with patients, families, providers, and fellow Team Members.

Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in a medical office, orthopaedic practice, patient registration, or other healthcare setting is preferred. Experience with insurance eligibility, referrals, patient payments, or NextGen or a similar electronic health record system is a plus.
