Job Summary: The Patient Registrar is the first point of contact for our patients and the community. Responsibilities include processing patient registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance information, scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

• Provides excellent communication and customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
• Processes admission paperwork and verifies insurance, ensuring accurate patient identity for billing.
• Answers internal and external calls in a friendly, helpful manner.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly.
• Maintains patient flow and informs supervisors of any issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Degree or GED

Experience:

• Prior experience in patient registration or healthcare preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding preferred but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

• Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, 40 WPM typing, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional interaction with staff and patients.
• Basic math skills.
