Job summary

DRH Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to manage and track patient referrals to specialists and external providers, ensuring timely access to care. You will coordinate appointments, monitor status, and ensure documentation and results are communicated to support continuity of care and prevent delays.

Responsibilities include prioritizing urgent referrals, communicating with providers and insurers, and maintaining accurate referral records in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Fluent English communication, both written and verbal.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of healthcare clinic experience.
• Able to adapt to urgent situations and travel to other DRH Health clinics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage referrals for assigned clinics to ensure timely processing.
• Review incoming referrals for completeness and accuracy with patient demographics and insurance information.
• Obtain and verify required information to process referrals and schedule patients.
• Coordinate insurance authorization and referral requirements as applicable.
• Communicate with referring and receiving providers, insurers, patients, and departments to resolve issues and enable timely care.
• Monitor referral work queues and maintain accurate tracking of pending, scheduled, completed, and outstanding referrals.
• Follow up on referrals pending due to missing information or authorization requirements.
• Prioritize urgent referrals and escalate as needed.
• Work with clinic staff and departments to promote timely access and continuity of care.
• Assist with PER/front-desk duties during staffing shortages or high volume.
• Travel to DRH locations to provide referral or clinic coverage as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and confidentiality and comply with DRH policies.
