Job summary

Upperline Health is seeking a detailed-oriented Referral Coordinator to manage patient referrals and ensure a seamless process from start to finish. You will verify eligibility, coordinate appointments, and maintain accurate records in the EHR system, delivering excellent patient service.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in healthcare administration, strong organizational and communication skills, and familiarity with insurance verification and authorizations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years in a healthcare administrative role, preferably in referrals or patient coordination.
• Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes is desirable.
• Experience with EHR systems such as Athena or similar platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process patient referrals accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify patient eligibility, insurance requirements, and authorization of CPT codes for referred services.
• Coordinate with referring and receiving providers to schedule appointments and ensure proper documentation and authorization of CPT codes.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies; answer questions and follow up to confirm appointments.
• Maintain accurate records of referrals in the EHR; document communications with patients, insurers, and providers.
• Verify insurance details and obtain pre-authorizations; coordinate with billing as needed.
• Collaborate with medical, administrative, and billing teams to ensure coordinated patient care and referral accuracy.
