Job summary

Upperline Health Inc is seeking a Referral Coordinator to manage patient referrals from start to finish, verify eligibility, coordinate appointments, and maintain accurate records in the EHR.

You will liaise with patients, providers, and insurers, ensuring smooth referrals and compliant documentation. The role emphasizes customer service, organization, and teamwork within a weekday clinic setting. Experience with Athena or similar systems is a plus; on-site work in Phoenix, AZ.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years in a healthcare administrative role, preferably in referrals or patient coordination.
• Experience with insurance verification and authorization processes is desirable; familiarity with EHR systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process patient referrals accurately and timely.
• Verify patient eligibility, insurance requirements, and CPT authorization for referred services.
• Coordinate with referring and receiving providers to schedule appointments and ensure proper documentation.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies.
• Provide patients with referral information, answer questions, and follow up to confirm appointments.
• Address and resolve patient concerns regarding the referral process.
• Maintain accurate referral records in the EHR and ensure compliance with guidelines.
