Job summary

Methodist Healthcare is seeking an RN Patient Placement Coordinator to optimize patient flow and bed assignment across the Methodist Healthcare System. You will coordinate admissions, transfers, and physician communications to ensure timely, safe patient placement.

The role requires RN license in Texas and direct patient care experience, with BSN consideration per hiring policies. Strong collaboration with nursing leadership and admitting teams will be essential.

Qualifications

  • RN direct patient care experience is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program (Diploma/ASN/BSN).
  • If RN was hired without BSN, must enroll within 2 years and complete within 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient placement and bed assignments across Methodist Healthcare facilities.
  • Monitor and project bed availability and manage admissions from ED, reservations, walk-ins, and transfers.
  • Communicate with physicians and office staff for admission requests and transfer coordination.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The RN Patient Placement Coordinator is responsible for patient flow within the Methodist Healthcare System (MRS). Assigns patients to an appropriate hospital bed, monitors the demand for beds as needs become known through reservations, walk-ins, transfers, or Emergency Department admissions. Provides administrative authority of accepting transfer patients to all MHS facilities. Functions in conjunction with the Nursing Administrators, Admitting Departments, Clerical Staff and Nursing Unit staff. Participates in capacity management conference calls and necessary triage and evaluation of patients to prioritize bed assignments. Monitors and projects bed availability based on known, predicted, or expected transfers/discharges. Receives and coordinates all communication from Physicians and their office staff for admission requests.

What qualifications you will need:

Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree nursing program * RNs hired as of 01/01/2013 that do not have a BSN upon hire must do ALL of the following: 1) Enroll in a BSN or higher degree nursing program within two years of hire date and submit documentation to facility CNO (or designated representative) 2) Complete the BSN or higher degree nursing program within five years of hire date

Effective 01/01/2013: Three (3) years of prior RN direct patient care experience is needed.

Employees hired prior to 01/01/2013 must have two (2) years prior RN direct care experience. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Preferred: Recent clinical ICU or telemetry experience

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: RN License to practice professional registered nursing in the state of Texas.
