Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our hospital team. The role supports patient observation and basic care, ensuring comfort and safety in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, mobility to move with patients, and ability to work under isolation precautions. BLS certification is required prior to performing patient observation; prior hospital experience is preferred but not required.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• The ability to stay mobile according to the patients' movement including the ability to stand for periods of time.
• Must be able to work in situations with isolation precautions.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Previous work experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, Nurse Aide Training, or current Nursing/Psychology student are all preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required prior to performing patient observation.
