Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a patient meal service assistant to support nutrition services in the Pediatrics unit. You will handle tray assembly, process menu requests, and ensure meals meet dietary restrictions while maintaining sanitation standards.

The role requires knowledge of Epic and VST systems, strong customer service skills, and ability to work as part of a clinical team to support patient safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from MCHD prior to starting OR obtain Temporary FSWP by first Wednesday of employment and a permanent FSWP within 1 month.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient calls following customer service standards.
• Follow diet restrictions and airway restrictions, including allergies and fluids.
• Process menu requests in EPIC and VST.
• Print nourishments orders for kitchen staff and ensure timely delivery of meals.
• Deliver or retrieve meal trays as needed and assist patients designated as needing assistance.
• Maintain cleanliness of nutrition centers and follow sanitation guidelines.
• Communicate clearly with tray line and production staff about special requests.
