Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Service Support role focused on direct patient meal service, diet adherence, and sanitation in patient care areas. You will take orders, ensure accuracy with dietary restrictions, and coordinate with nursing and kitchen staff to deliver timely meals.

The role requires maintaining compliance with FSWP standards, strong customer service, and proficiency with hospital systems.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) required or a MCHD Temporary FSWP obtained prior to start date.
• Permanent MCHD FSWP required within 1 month of start date.
• Must maintain FSWP throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Take patient meal orders in person or via the hospitality center ordering system.
• Follow diet restrictions and allergies accurately.
• Use EPIC and VST to access patient information and process menu requests.
• Process between-meal nourishment orders and prints for kitchen staff.
• Adhere to missed meal reports procedures and alert nursing as needed.
• May deliver or retrieve meal trays as required.
• Assist in menu selections for patients designated as needing assistance.
• Deliver meal trays to patients within service guidelines for timeliness.
• Follow sanitation, safety, and HACCP guidelines in nutrition centers.
• Document information required for ordered calorie counts.
• Monitor new patients' knowledge of room service and explain menus as needed.
• Maintain rapport with nursing staff and collaborate with Dietitians.
• Communicate with tray line and production staff regarding special requests.
• Perform duties to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of units.
• Complete daily menus by assigned deadlines and ensure on-time delivery.
