Job summary

Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa is seeking a part-time patient food service worker to handle tray assembly, delivery, and patient requests on assigned units. Responsibilities include following dietary plans, safe food handling, and coordinating with nursing and kitchen staff.

Occasional duties include assisting with Meals on Wheels, maintaining sanitation, and restocking work areas. A high school diploma is preferred, with strong communication and teamwork skills emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proof of Mandatory Reporting via current certificate or complete the course within 6 months of hire.
• Possession of valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and delivers meal trays to patient care units, including late trays and room service meals.
• Washes and sanitizes soiled pans, dishes, utensils and other equipment.
• Assists with the assembly of home delivered meals (Meals on Wheels).
• Sets up and maintains serving areas according to guidelines and ensures proper labeling.
• Follows therapeutic diets, standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines for safety and quality.
• Restocks supplies and equipment; communicates shortages to staff.
• Handles patient requests and maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
