Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Center (United States) is seeking a Food Service Worker to assist patients with meal orders, deliver meals and snacks, and coordinate with other departments regarding patient meal services. You will use the food service software, communicate calmly and effectively with staff, and apply basic nutrition knowledge in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The schedule is rotating days/evenings/nights with weekends and holidays, and the role offers benefits including PTO

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, and distinguish speech.
• Visual acuity and ability to perform essential job functions with accommodations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate the food service software for recording patient and guest meal orders.
• Coordinate with staff and other departments on diet orders and patient requests.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of food production, nutrition, and therapeutic diets.
• Deliver meals and food items to patient rooms promptly and courteously.
• Assist patients with meal setup and accessibility of items.
• Record meal and fluid intake in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with stocking, cleaning, and maintaining food service areas.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation standards and document temperatures as required.
