Job summary

ephraimmcdowell is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support the patient tray line, prepare cold foods, and ensure correct diet items are served. The role requires sanitation, safety, and cooperative teamwork in a hospital food service environment.

Responsibilities include tray line setup, food prep, dishwashing, cleaning, and supporting dieticians to ensure accurate portions and diets. Training and professional growth are encouraged, with a focus on patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Safe food handling and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to interpret therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

• Set up and work all positions on the patient tray line.
• Prepare cold foods according to standardized recipe and production sheet.
• Wash and sanitize pots, pans, and other small ware in a three-compartment sink.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, trays and service ware in a dish machine.
• Perform general cleaning and sanitizing tasks per department procedures.
• Observe all principles of safe food handling.
• Interpret and select proper food items relating to therapeutic diets.
• Train new food service assistants in infection control and sanitation.
• Work with dieticians to ensure correct preparation/portion control.
• Assist hostess with patient food cart delivery and pickup as needed.
• Demonstrate accountability and growth to maintain knowledge and skills.
• Contribute to the mission and operations of the Organization.
• Demonstrate core concepts of patient-family centered care in practice.
• Participate in shared governance across the Organization.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
