Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Food Service/Listener role to support daily operations in the patient nutrition area. Responsibilities include ensuring proper food handling, reading menus, and assisting with patient meal service in a clinical setting.

The position involves managing kitchen tasks, coordinating with the Diet Office, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in line with hospital policies. Previous food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience in non-commercial food service.
• Knowledgeable in normal and therapeutic nutrition or willing to learn.
• Able to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic; comfortable using computers.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and clean kitchen equipment; ensure food temperatures meet HACCP standards.
• Read menus and manage portion control for hot and cold items.
• Open kitchen, review menus, accommodate new admissions and support breakfast prep.
• Verify daily schedules, assist in orientation and competency checks for new staff.
• Keep storage areas clean and orderly; serve as patient meal host/diet clerk; close kitchen securely at night.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
