Job summary

Uniontown Hospital, part of the WVU Health System network, seeks a Mammography Technologist to plan, perform, and optimize mammographic imaging with a strong focus on patient safety and quality. Applicants should hold ARRT Radiography and Mammography credentials and maintain MQSA compliance.

The role requires rigorous adherence to imaging standards, patient education, and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure accurate diagnoses and excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided.
• ARRT registration in Radiography (ARRT)
• ARRT Mammography certification within 12 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• State and federal background checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Plan imaging procedures based on patient needs for all exams within scope.
• Develop and maintain competency in all exams within scope.
• Maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to imaging.
• Position and compress patients accurately for procedures and image all breast tissue.
• Minimize radiation exposure through shielding and appropriate exposure factors.
• Evaluate images for protocol compliance, density, contrast, and absence of artifacts.
• Educate patients about mammographic procedures and address questions.
• Document imaging activities per requirements.
• Engage with physicians, nursing, and staff to solve problems and implement systems.
• Perform full range of mammographic imaging quality control tests and document results.
• Adhere to ethics, policies, regulations, and Joint Commission guidelines.
• Report equipment failures promptly and maintain clean, stocked work area.
• Prepare contrast agents, pharmaceuticals, and sterile supplies for invasive procedures.
• Maintain MQSA compliance.
